This kind of a cringe-y thing to do but nevertheless I've not seen one of these done before and i know i would have found this very useful when i started out modelling!
1. Agency
I have known freelance models who have made it their career but its just not worth it unless you do it full time, therefore like me, i suggest joining an agency! It doesn't really matter which agency you join if you are only starting out because you will only be doing test shoots to begin with. You can join an agency by contacting them and sending them a head-shot and full body picture, by being scouted by them (i was scouted in Manchester city center) or by going along to one of their beginners castings to meet you.

These will be organised by your agency but be wary of people inboxing you on Facebook as if they were professional they would go through your agency.
2. Walking
You can teach yourself by watching videos but i suggest asking your agency if they provide sessions to teach you. It really is a hard skill to learn as it is completely different to your normal every day walking style but it makes you able to walk in any shoe no matter how high or what size. I have had to wear shoes much too small for me (i have giant size 9 feet) and they still expect you to walk professionally.

3. Test shoots
These are unpaid and maybe a ball-ache but you have to bite the bullet and do them. They will enhance your portfolio of pictures drastically helping you to get more jobs! Valuable experience is also gained, you never like to see the generic photos of hand-on-hip poses.
4. Equipment
You will be expected to take heels and other items to jobs and castings. I always take black heels with me that are comfy and easy to walk in, in case they want to see your killer walk. To a job i always take a nude strapless bra and black bra, i also take thongs for slinkier outfits, a knicker line never looks good! I do sometimes take my own makeup too even though it is rarely needed in case the makeup artist doesn't doesn't have your skin colour.
Snacks are also a necessity!
5. Money
You probably will be thinking why have i chosen to talk about money. Well it may or may not be surprising is getting into modelling is very expensive. You might have to pay for some test shoots, travelling to unpaid test shoots, travelling to castings where you may not even get the job. It all takes up time, money and effort! However it is very rewarding in the long run, as you gain more experience, you will be paid more for a job.
This could be between £100-£350 a day! Now you can't tell me that ain't good money. Normally they are very boring days where you only actually do any modelling for 15-20 minutes if it's a hair show. But they can also be very tiring and strenuous days if you are doing a catalog and it's none stop all day in and out different outfits just dong front back and side photos. They are the worst!
So overall modelling has it's ups and downs but overall it is very rewarding and totally worth it. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions!
